Vale Coastal Ultra

Vale Coastal Ultra

What is an Ultra? Ultra distances are anything longer than a marathon. A marathon is 26.2 miles. Or about 42 km if you prefer.

Organised by the ultra and trail running lovers crew at Run Walk Crawl, this is a beautiful run along the entire coastal path in the Vale of Glamorgan.

The 32 mile ultra run starts on Penarth Pier and the welcoming finish line is, closer to home, in Ogmore. If you don’t feel ready for the full 32 miles, or you just want the trail section, an 18 mile trail run is also an option. This run starts in Porthkerry Country Park and has the same destination. The two runs follow the same route. You’ll have the sea to your left (so if it isn’t you know you have gone wrong somewhere!) and will pass the most southerly point of Wales, Nash Point Lighthouse and numerous beaches. There are plenty of checkpoints along the way to keep you fuelled and enough supporters to keep your spirits high!

It is a tough course. Tough but beautiful. Train for it, enjoy it and always know that you did it!
